Well gardeners….have you been to the beach during this hot weather? Actually I haven’t either! Just been busy sorting my gardening peeps out – Ok the grass isn’t growing but somehow those dandylions and daisies are having a field day!!! And as for that blossom – so pretty, but so messy!!!
Anyhow, I thought I’d share a simple but effective planting scheme with you. Originally, my design was for a pool area but hey, who needs a pool when one can get the same theraputic effect from this. If you have a little space in your garden – preferably in a sunny position,plant nepeta at the front of the border in a line approx one metre apart. Behind it plant white Cosmos half a metre apart. Plant a few grasses randomly between them. As everything grows, you will soon see the formation of a blue sea (Nepeta), with surf (Cosmos) and the sound of the ocean (Grasses) helping you to relax during those lovely summer evenings.
Quick Tip– Its not too late to sow your own Cosmos in pots, they germinate very quickly and are very easy to grow. Also once in flower, they last for a long time. The Nepeta divides easily in the Autumn.
